LOS ANGELES, CA --- Fast National ratings for Friday, January 6, 2005 The addition of two new shows helped ABC close the ratings gap with leader CBS on Friday, although the Eye still performed solidly. NBC's controversial "Book of Daniel," meanwhile, got off to a so-so start. CBS won the night by averaging a 7.9 rating/13 share. ABC finished second at 6.5/11, and NBC was third at 5.6/9. UPN's 3.1/5 edged FOX's 2.9/5 for fourth. The WB trailed with a 1.3/2. |
| The race was somewhat closer in the
adults 18-49 demographic. CBS led with a 3.2 rating, with
ABC, 2.9, and NBC, 2.7, not far behind. FOX averaged 1.9,
UPN 1.8 and The WB 0.7. "Ghost Whisperer," 7.4/13, put CBS on top at 8 p.m. ABC was second with "Dancing with the Stars: The Results," 8.6/15, and "Hope & Faith," 5.5/9. The premiere of "Most Outrageous Moments" pulled down a 5.1/8 for NBC. "Friday Night Smackdown!" came in fourth for UPN, ahead of FOX's "Bernie Mac Show," 2.6/4, and "Malcolm in the Middle," 2.3/4. The WB went with a "Beauty and the Geek" repeat. CBS held the lead at 9 p.m. with "Close to Home," 7.5/12. The debut of "The Book of Daniel" tied for second with ABC's "In Justice," with both shows averaging 5.9/9 (the numbers for "In Justice" constitute a big improvement for ABC in the timeslot). FOX moved up to fourth with "Trading Spouses," 3.4/6. "Smackdown!" was fifth for UPN, beating a second hour of "Beauty and the Geek" on The WB. |
At 10 p.m., "Numb3rs" scored the night's best rating, earning an 8.7/15 for CBS. ABC's "20/20" was second at 6.3/11, and a second hour of "The Book of Daniel" averaged 5.7/10 for NBC.
