Fox reprieves "Get Real" and Promises "Summer of Love"..... |
Get Real gets a temporary stay of execution from Fox . The net is picking up five more episodes of the low-rated drama. The show has been on a month-long hiatus and will return to its old 9 p.m. time slot in the Fox lineup March 8. After a make-it-or-break-it eight-week run, Fox will decide whether Get Real will get renewed or get booted. Meanwhile, if you're pining for a Jennifer Love Hewitt fix, you'd better head to the video store. The cutie-pie's series, Time of Your Life, won't return until, gasp(!), this summer. When it is Time again for Love (as the actress likes to be called), Fox plans to give the show a big boost with a "Summer of Love"-themed campaign. Nine unaired episodes of the series were wrapped before the show was put on hiatus. The network won't decide until fall whether to renew Time, a spin-off of Party of Five, which faces its own demise at the end of this season. Fox is currently negotiating a contract extension with the starlet. "We have a long way to go with both shows," Fox Entertainment president Doug Herzog confides to Variety. In other TV shuffling news, NBC's Stark Raving Mad will be "intermittently" replaced by Frasier reruns, according to USA Today. Battery Park, which once was to have starred Charlie Sheen will take over Stark's slot when it debuts March 16. Over at CBS, Early Edition returns Saturday, bumping the game show Winning Lines. Having failed to outperform rival quizzers, the Dick Clark-hosted show has been pulled for the remainder of the critical February sweeps. Story: © 2000 ABC News Internet Ventures.
