WHILE TV viewers the world over are relieved the drawn-out U.S.
writers' strike has come to an end, local lass Charmaine Kuhn is
more stoked than most.
Confidential reported back in September that the aspiring
director from Aberfoyle Park, was packing her bags for Hollywood
with hopes of cracking the big time.
Scoring herself a residency at the prestigious New York Film
Academy, 23-year-old Charmaine jetted across and settled into
her new life.
But then the writers' strike descended - practically throwing a
blanket over the entire industry.
Not that Charmaine didn't have some fabulous experiences.
Before the strike, Charmaine was invited to spend a day on
location and another on set with Jennifer Love Hewitt's hit
series The Ghost Whisperer .
"It was the most explosive experience of my life," she says.
"I made sure I spent at least an hour with each crew department
to observe as much as I could in the little time possible."
She even met the star of the show who, Charmaine says, is
"beautiful". When her brief internship was up Charmaine was
invited to make a return visit.
And now, with the industry impasse over, talented Charmaine -
through industry contacts at Paramount and CBS - has been
offered internships and on-set experiences, including the
possibility of a stint as production assistant on Mission
Impossible 4.
Now that's big league.
