Emmy winner Christine Baranski is set to join Jennifer Love Hewitt, Alyson Hannigan and Ed O'Neill in ABC's upcoming comedy series "In the Game." "Game," from Touchstone TV, Love Spell Entertainment and Handprint Entertainment, centers on an up-and-coming sports producer (Hewitt) who unwittingly becomes an on-camera reporter on a sports TV show.

Ed O'Neill co-stars as the show's executive producer and father to Riley Reed (Hewitt).

Hannigan will play Hewitt's character's best friend, while Baranski will play the senior reporter on the show.

Baranski is an Emmy winner for her role on CBS' sitcom "Cybill". She's repped by UTA and Viking Entertainment's Lisa Loosemore.

Born Christine Jane Baranski on May 2, 1952 (Jim Mix: she's going to kill me for revealing that) in Buffalo, New York, her professional career began in 1980 as Olga in a made for-TV movie titled "Playing for Time" dealing with female prisoners in a Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitz, spared from death in return for performing music for their captors.

Moving onto two soaps, "Another World" in 1983 as Beverly Tucker, and "All My Children" as Jewel (in 1984); as well as motion pictures like "Legal Eagles" starring Robert Redford and Debra Winger, and directed by Ivan Reitman; "Reversal of Fortune" starring Jeremy Irons for which he won a Best Actor Oscar for his performance; Hallmark's Hall Of Fame's "To Dance With A White Dog" starring the husband and wife team of Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy; the crtical acclaim motion pictures "The Birdcage" starring Robin Williams and Nathan Lane and "Bullworth" starring and directed by Warren Beatty, and the Academy Award winning motion picture (for 2002) based on the original musical, "CHICAGO".

Ms. Baranski is also Mrs. Cowles---she married actor MATTHEW COWLES in 1983 and they have two daughters who might be permitted to watch "IN THE GAME" because Mr. and Mrs. Cowles raise their children without television and they do not approve of the sexual content and violence on the screen---good, responsible parents!

Ms. Baranski is Polish decent, studied at Julliard, and the Cowles make their home in Conneticut.
